Napa Tree House
An emphasis on light’s trajectory from the outside to the inside of the house drove the design for this home, built for a couple on a remote site in the Rutherford Wine Country hills of Northern California.
To create an intimate and restorative spatial experience, the private wing on the house tucks into a tight tuft of trees. Meanwhile, the social wing, which includes dining and living spaces, is flanked by two terraces—one for outdoor dining and one that holds an outdoor swimming pool.
These distinct pieces come together in a home that interacts with the flora on the site for indoor-outdoor living.
